Searching through my inbox recently, I noticed an old e-mail from one of my clients. It was an amazing story about the way her business had benefited from her work with me. In fact, it was a much more detailed testimonial that the one she had provided at my “official” request a few months later.
I realized how often there are spontaneous testimonials in the e-mails we receive from clients during the course of our work with them that may fall through the cracks.
- Action step: set aside a folder or label in your e-mail program to collect e-mails that you want to reference later as testimonials.
One day I was checking my PayPal account when I noticed a charge I didn’t recognize. After investigating, I found an electronic information product that I had forgotten I purchased. I’d invested in it, but then it had gotten lost in the quicksand of my computer hard drive.
Some of these information products can cost hundreds of dollars. It’s up to you to ensure you get a return on your investment.
- Action step: when you buy, or download for free, any ebook, mp3 or other information product, immediately schedule time on your calendar to use the product. This will ensure you get full value out of your purchase (or can return it promptly in case you don’t get any value).
Most of us spend hours responding to questions from clients by email. If you check your inbox right now, you’ll find zillions of questions sparked by real-life situations. Your answers are going to be specific, relevant and interesting to many more people than just the one recipient of your email. And, best of all, these answers are written already! Your next blog post, ezine article or presentation is already in progress.
- Action step: Scan your inbox and outbox, cut, paste, revise and go!
How do you keep up with an overflowing inbox? Found anything valuable in yours recently?
